THE BACKGROUND TO OUR UNIQUE SERVICE
Back in April 2004, we set out to find the winner of the Aintree Grand National. Stepping into virgin territory, we decided to analyse the profiles of previous winners of the race to see if we could uncover a common theme which we could apply to the runners in that year's race. Lo and behold, after some weeks' research and many, many hours of hard work, we developed a formula and arrived at the view that of the final 40 runners (well, 39 since one was withdrawn just before the race), there could only be one winner. We backed Amberleigh House to win, taking an antepost price of 25/1 and yes, you guessed it, the rest is history! When we told family and friends that only one horse could win the National, they looked at us as if we were start raving mad.......after our momentous win however, they followed our advice like hawks! In fact, we since went on to supply our family and friends with a further 4 of the 5 Grand National winners between 2005 and 2009 - see our Grand National pagefor details.
So, our addiction was born and since 2004, we have researched high grade races throughout the year and gone on to successfully apply our own set of rules to find winners. It has worked very well....to the extent that we are now commercialising our work. Trend Friend is launched to the public with effect from March 2010.
NOT ANOTHER TIPPING SERVICE
First and foremost, Trend Friend is not another tipping service.

OUR METHOD
We undertake quite unique and in-depth profiling of the previous winners of particular races and, from this, we establish and apply "key trends" rules to the runners of those races when they are next run.
BIG PRICED WINNERS
Our method often finds winners at prices well into double digits such as, for example, Mon Mome, the 100/1 SP winner of the 2009 Grand National. Selections are not always "form horses" and this is the way in which we often successfully "go against the crowd".
MAJOR RACES
We concentrate on major races which run throughout the racing calendar.
WE DO THE HARD WORK, YOU REAP THE BENEFITS
There is certainly no "quick fix" when it comes to finding winners and in the case of our methodology, we spend many hours and days analysing each and every race in which we provide members with our recommendations.
For our members, however, life is made simple. On race day, after the completion of our analysis, we send a clear and straightforward email which contains our recommendations/selections.

DON'T BE MISLED BY THE COMPETITION
There are of course certain racing newspapers and internet sites which provide key trends analysis of major races but when you scratch below the surface, what you find is:
EXTENSIVE ANALYSIS
At Trend Friend, there are no shortcuts.
With each and every race we analyse, we consider up to 30 or more potential "qualifying criteria". In fact, in the case of a 40 runner Aintree Grand National alone where our set of rules contain 52 different criteria, we face the mammoth task of finding and inputting onto a very large spreadsheet no less than 2,080 (52x40) different pieces of data to find the winner.
Our analysis normally begins a week or so before each race we analyse and continues over many days and hours leading up to and including race day itself.
We only advise selections which "tick all the boxes". No ifs, buts or maybes so you can be confident that if we advise a selection, it stands a strong chance of winning.
A MAINLY WEEKEND SERVICE
Given that we concentrate on analysing major races, most of our selections run in races on the weekends. We will normally give selections in between 2 and 4 races on a weekend. Of course, the main exception to this is in respect of certain major Festivals where races are run on weekdays.
OUR SELECTIONS
As a member, you will receive our selections by email by late morning on the day our races run. This will allow plenty of time for you to place your bets.

50% STRIKE RATE
Our long term strike rate in the races we analyse is around 50%. That means that we generally find the winner in 1 in every 2 races we analyse, a pretty strong testament to the strength and depth of our methodology. We also often provide our members with recommendations for specific win doubles, forecast and tricast bets and these have the potential for very sizeable returns. Of course, the Racing Index site does not provide for the proofing of these kinds of bets.
PROOFING
As of our public launch (6th March 2010), all of our selections are proofed to Racing Index.
PROOFING - IMPORTANT NOTE
In many of the races we analyse, we will offer more than one "qualifying selection". When we do this, we will rank the selections in order of what we consider to be their chance of winning and, in doing so, we will advise members of what stakes (expressed in points) to back each horse for. We normally use a bank of 10 points in each race, split between our selections on, as stated, a weighted basis. So, for example, we might stake selections in a race as follows:
Total investment: 10 points
Horse A: 5 points
Horse B: 4 points
Horse C: 1 point
Therefore, because we advise selections to be backed at different staking levels, when you look at our record at Racing Index, it is essential to tick/check the "Advised Stakes" box in the search area at the top of the Racing Index page to get the performance of our service based on the stakes we advise for each selection.

As we've stated on our first page ("Our Method"), we will often provide our members with a shortlist of runners to back in forecast and tricast bets. These bets can be extremely profitable and whilst we urge caution to our members, recommending they maintain a separate betting bank for this purpose and making it clear that winning forecasts and tricasts don't come up as often as successful single win bets, we know that when they do, they are often landed at very big odds and, overall, they can be very profitable indeed.

For most people, the Grand National is considered to be a lottery. For us, however, it is simply our favourite race of the racing calendar and one in which our successes are unparalelled. Put simply, we have a stunning track record of finding the winner of the Grand National.
The Grand National is a race which we have analysed since 2004. In the 7 runnings of the race since that time, we have found the winners of 5! The full details are shown below.
2010: A losing year with Don't Push It, a non qualifier, winning the race.
2009: The winner, Mon Mome, at a staggering 100/1 SP (and a Betfair SP of 143)!
(We backed 3 in the race which included Chelsea Harbour 40/1 and Parsons Legacy 20/1)
2008: The winner, Comply Or Die at 7/1 SP which we backed on the day of the race at 11/1.
2007: The winner, Silver Birch at 33/1 SP which we backed on Betfair at a price of 65 (64/1).
2006: The winner, Numbersixvalverde, our only "qualifier" at 11/1 SP along with the 98/1 Tote Exacta (forecast)
and 400/1 Tote Trifecta (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
2005: A losing year when Hedgehunter, a non qualifier, won the race.
2004: The winner, Amberleigh House (backed before raceday at 25/1 SP) - again our only "qualifier" in the 39
runner race.
We have enjoyed similar successes in the two other end of season Nationals, the Scottish and the Irish.
In last year's Irish Grand National (2009),not only did we back the winner, Niche Market at 33/1 SP and 79.17 Betfair SP but we also won the tricast at odds of 54,466/1, backing the first three past the post at prices of 33/1, 50/1 and 50/1. As it happened, our bookmaker, Stan James, limited our forecast unit stakes to 50 pence and our unit tricast stakes to 36 pence but we still walked off with a very cool £20,118.40 for our trouble! Had we been allowed to back the forecast and tricast to £1 unit stakes, we would have won £1207.07 on the forecast and a stunning £54,466.58 on the tricast!
